Ishida is launching a revolutionary detector
Ishida Europe has launched a revolutionary new leak detector that helps food producers minimize waste in pre-packed retail products.
Designed for use in a wide range of foods such as fresh, cooked and canned meats, poultry, seafood, salads, cheeses and ready meals, Ishida Airscan relies on advanced laser technology to identify CO2 leaks in packaging, from holes of only 0.5 mm in airtight packs in a modified atmosphere (MAP) at speeds of up to 180 packs per minute. It has been designed to be easily integrated into existing production lines.
Distributors and suppliers under pressure
“Distributors and suppliers are under pressure to minimize food waste, and packaging leaks result in almost 500,000 tons of food waste during production annually,” explains Steve Jones, Ishida Europe's Marketing Manager.
Damaged packaging can lead to bacterial decay, shorter shelf life and a stressful increase in complaints and returned goods. This may result in increased production costs, loss of brand image and reputation as well as increase the risk of fines.
100% identification of CO2 leaks
The new Ishida AirScan provides fast, 100% credible and completely non-destructive identification of CO2 leaks. It has been designed to be hugely efficient in high-production environments, so that maximum quality can be achieved without compromising on high production speed and minimal packaging time.
By maintaining the optimal gas filling for each package, the leak detector ensures a consistent product quality and enables fast identification and corrective action. It also reduces the quantity of packaging that must be discarded, and the non-destructive testing process ensures that the product can be repackaged.
